TACTICAL DEFENCE CAMP 2017

There is something to be said about training with someone who has actually achieved the goal that you are striving for, someone who has actually been there and knows every aspect of what it takes to get there. Simply stepping on the ice with an NHL player is something that young hockey players dream of. There is an immediate level of respect that is automatic and unmatched which is something that our instructors take very seriously when it comes to their positions as role models. It is this respect that commands the attention of the players who attend our camps. Having played the game at the highest level, our instructors have a unique balance of work ethic and love for the game that has been ingrained in them throughout their careers. Their hope is that they can instill these traits in each and every player while teaching through example and positive reinforcement.

The dynamic of our camps is very different from the rest. Not only will you work with 2 professional hockey players EVERY day but we have a max of 20 players/group so that everyone gets the individual attention that they deserve. There is a positive energy and a level of expectation that drives everyone to work their hardest in order to maximize their time on the ice.

DURING THIS CAMP WE WILL BE FOCUSING ON THE FOLLOWING:

PROPER SKATING TECHNIQUE (WITH FOCUS ON BACKWARDS SKATING)
CROSSOVERS, EDGE CONTROL, STRIDE, BALANCE AND LATERAL MOBILITY
HIGH TEMPO DRILLS TO REINFORCE QUICK FEET, SPEED AND AGILITY
EXPLOSIVE STARTS, ACCELERATION, PIVOTING AND TIGHT TURNS
1 ON 1'S, 2 ON 2'S
GAME AWARENESS AND POSITIONING (GAP CONTROL)
SHOOTING, PASSING (ACCURACY/SPEED) AND PUCK CONTROL
DEVELOP OVERALL SKILL LEVEL AS WELL AS CONDITIONING AND STRENGTH

OUR INSTRUCTORS:

SHEAN DONOVAN:

A very familiar face to hockey fans in Ottawa, Shean was just shy of 1000 games in the NHL with Colorado, Atlanta, Pittsburg, Calgary, Boston and most notably your Ottawa Senators. An absolute specialist when it comes to breaking down and teaching the basics of skating. Shean was one of the fastest players in the National Hockey League and we are very lucky to have him as one of our head instructors.

BRAD BROWN:

Brad was drafted 18th overall by the Montreal Canadiens and continued his 8 year NHL career as a stay at home defenceman with the Chicago Blackhawk
New York Rangers, Buffalo Sabres and the Minnesota Wild where he served as Captain. His leadership skills and passion for the game make him a great role model on and off the ice. He is eager to pass on what he has learned through his experience as a professional hockey player.
